Ingredients
- 2 Cups flour
- 1 Cup shortening
- 1 Cup brown sugar
- ½ Cup sour cream
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tsp baking powder
- ½-1 Cup raisins
- ½-1 Cup nuts, chopped
- ½ Tsp nutmeg
- ½ Tsp soda
- ½ Tsp salt
History
"Brown sugar cookies" and "sugar cookies" are the same, except for the fact that in sugar cookies it uses sugar, in brown sugar cookies it uses brown sugar. They are the exact same, except one uses brown sugar and one uses sugar. The brown sugar cookie originated in Germany in the mid 1700's. It is known the German Protestant settlers founded the recipe.
First, get all of your ingredients together.
In a large bowl mix together shortening, sugar, nutmeg, egg, and salt.
Mix well.
Once throughly mixed combine flour, sour cream, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
Drop spoonfuls of the mix on a greased baking sheet and bake at 325 degrees and bake for 12-15 minutes.
